Last 13 February saw the publication of Spanish Electric Code 56/2016 (RD 56/2016), a partial transposition of European Directive 2012/27/EU.

In essence, this decree mandates that certain companies must undergo periodic energy audits to improve their efficiency and thereby adapt to the criteria established by the European Union such as improve energy efficiency by 20%, reducing energy consumption and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (mainly CO2).

More and more companies have started implementing Energy Management Systems (EMS), despite being exempt from this type of audit. Their efficient energy management begins with recording consumption classified by use (lighting, heating/cooling, power,etc.) as well as interacting with the installation to avoid fines for exceeding maximum demand or consumption of reactive energy, in line with the new directives and keeping a step ahead of possible future expansions.

Their main advantage is the inclusion of an energy data logger (EDS), along with various measurement and control units. Each kit can record and monitor energy measurements for more than one year and is equipped with various SCADA screens designed by CIRCUTOR to be used on a PC, Tablet or Smartphone.

Users can work with these predefined screens to configure the information of their installations, margins for alarms and e-mail addresses for automatic delivery of the latter. In sum, any user can install the kits without needing to know how to program.
