Škoda ENYAQ iV 80 - Street

Brand and Model: Škoda ENYAQ iV 80
Useful battery capacity: 77 kWh
Maximum power in fast charging: 135 kW DC
WLTP approved autonomy: 534 km
WLTP approved consumption: 14.4 kWh/100 km
Vehicle weight: 2,090 kg

In this new CircutorElectroChallenge autonomy challenge, we drive a Škoda ENYAQ iV 80, up to the limit of its autonomy, using, as always, our best Efficient and calm Driving skills.

The Škoda ENYAQ iV 80 is one of the surprises in the electric car market, it shares the MEB platform with the Volkswagen and CUPRA ID models but, instead of being a second option, it has become a shameless competitor to the rest of the cars on the market. group since its design makes it very attractive as a family car and has been reflected by its presence in the sales ranking in Central and Northern European countries in the last months of 2021.

The perception when we got into the Enyaq for the first time is of being inside a large car, and it is not only because it is 4.65 m long but also because its design has prioritized giving the impression of space, such as the 585 l of trunk that can become 1,710 l when the rear seats are folded down, almost van figures.

The design line is very modern, but at the same time very elegant without forgetting the interior equipment and finishes that surpass other models in the group. Although there is a version with a capacity of 58 kWh, the 77 kWh battery is, without a doubt, adequate for a car in this segment.

The consumption obtained has not left us indifferent. Moving these two tons in a mixed cycle below 14 kWh/100 km points us to launching a great challenge. Will this be the first electric car in which we exceed 500 km on a single charge?

Estos son los resultados, de consumo, obtenidos en las pruebas iniciales:

Vuelta solidaria: 14,6 kWh/100 km
Vuelta EcoBest: 13,7 kWh/100 km

Škoda ENYAQ iV 80 - Coast

It's Sunday morning and, with our friend, co-driver and challenge partner, Pep, we're already at the CIRCUTOR headquarters, in Viladecavalls, to unplug from #RAPTION50. Battery at 100% and,...surprise, the car promises us 508 km, practically its homologation, this promises to be long and quite a bit.

The forecast is for rain and perhaps snow in the Pyrenees and we already had enough water in the last challenge, so we head south.

A few km from starting our challenge and, driving along the C-58, we heard a horn. How funny is Ferran Menescal Miralles, the Familytuber shooting with the DS-9.

The first control, in Sitges, already governed the first of the impacts, the easterly storm makes the waves explode against the rocks of PUERTO DE AIGUADOLC SITGES SA in a magnificent spectacle from which a good group of surfers know how to take advantage.

The car, in the most favorable terrain of the day, gives us the first positive figures, 12.6 kWh/100 km and a range of 444 km after having already done 79.

We cross the Via Augusta and this is evidenced when, after 118 km we cross the Arc de Berà where we carry out the second control. The Škoda ENYAQ iV 80 has taken advantage of our quiet driving on the N-340, on a morning with little traffic, it must be due to the price of fuel... consumption remains very contained, at 13.5 kWh/100 km and the autonomy promised by the vehicle is still 405 km, exceeding expectations.

Change of music, we entered the A7 and we slipped to l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, we had never gone so low in our challenges. At this point, we wake up the inclinometer and head for the C-44 to Tivissa, raising the port above 500 m and an average difference in altitude from the coast of 3.5%.

A change of scenery, up here you can breathe health and the view gives us the first fields of fruit trees in bloom that will accompany us for more than 100 km, carpets in shades ranging from white to purple that greet us at every turn.

It is 12:30 pm, we have covered 193 km, with an average consumption of 15.4 kWh/100 km, we knew that the climb would take its toll. Despite the effort, the Enyaq maintains 298 km of autonomy that prompt us to plan, for the first time, in the season, "stop and eat".

We go up the Ebro river, along the C-12, to Flix passing through Mora la Nova, Garcia and Ascó. The river is life and when it goes down with all its flow it transmits strength and peace at the same time.

We continue to Torrebesses and at this point, we take an alternative route, worthy of the best of the EcoRallyes. We leave the fields of fruit trees in bloom to enter dry land, among olive and almond trees that will make us want to taste their fruits even more. Where will we do it?

It's two o'clock and you have to reveal so much intrigue. We make a "stop and inn" at the small gastrobar "Syrah" under the arcades of the Borges Blanques, Ramón, has regenerated us with the classic grilled snails and the "Gran Pep" a cured goat cheese, only surpassed by some creative desserts . but what about the car? Well, for now, in abstinence, since after 5 hours on the road and 285 km, its battery still maintains a 41% charge and a range of 224 thanks to a consumption of 15.2 kWh/100 km.

Two hours later we resume the march towards Arbeca and go up the Corb river under the impressive presence of the Guimerà castle, still the scene of re-enactment meetings of bygone times, but so much history is accompanied by twisty roads with continuous ascents and our consumption also It raises up to 15.6 kWh/100 km, the battery is already down to a third of its capacity, at this point we have driven 322 km and we have autonomy for 155 more. Our dream goes away...

Between windmills, we crown Santa Paloma de Queralt, we have favorable terrain until Igualada and then the climb to Bruc, at this point our battery exceeds the top, still with 20%, on a normal trip, we would look for a recharge en route, but In a challenge like this, we take advantage of the eternal descent until we touch the sea, until we reach the port of Barcelona.

We go up the Vallès Occidental, by the C-58 and, we see the headquarters of Circutor, what we left behind, to access Vacarisses, passing Coll Cardús and connect again with the Llobregat, in Monistrol de Montserrat, now yes, from Olesa We faced the last corners with limited power, to finish our challenge in the same RAPTION 50 that saw us start.

Results Autonomy Challenge - Škoda ENYAQ iV 80

Škoda ENYAQ iV 80 - Urban

Total route: 503 km
Driving time: 9 hours
Remaining battery: 1%
Remaining autonomy: 5 km
Consumption: 4.3 kWh/100 km
Average speed: 56 km/h

We have achieved a consumption and autonomy very close to homologation despite not having driven practically a single km in the city. Frankly, a great result since we have done it driving a great car, with levels of comfort and agility on very different roads. Exceptional!

Conclution:

The Škoda ENYAQ iV 80 climbs to the top of the podium in terms of distance traveled with a single charge, since, as we bet at the beginning of the challenge, we have overcome the 500 km barrier, thus confirming that it is not a best seller in the countries with greater penetration of electric vehicles by chance.

Clarifications:

The Solidarity Tour is a 20 km route starting and finishing at the Circutor headquarters in Viladecavalls, which runs along very twisty secondary roads with slopes of up to 250 m.

The EcoBest tour is a 60 km mixed route that includes approximately 50% motorway, 25% city and the rest on interurban roads, very similar to the distribution of the WLTP cycle.

All our challenges are based on achieving maximum autonomy, in real traffic conditions, using efficient driving techniques and moderate speeds, always above the minimum marked on each road.
