The CDP Dynamic Power Controller, now compatible with HUAWEI inverters

The CDP dynamic power controllers for CIRCUTOR photovoltaic inverters (CDP-0, CDP-G and CDP-DUO) are now compatible with the SUN2000 range of inverters made by HUAWEI, a leading global company in the research and development of electronic and communications equipment.

The SUN2000 KTL range by HUAWEI consists of grid-connected inverters with a built-in controller to improve the efficiency and performance of the inverter. The SUN2000 KTL product range has power ranging from 8 kW to 42 kW. These inverters do not require transformers (TL) and they also have a built-in DC disconnect system for safe and simple maintenance.

Obtain legal authorisation for your photovoltaic energy system

CDP devices allow you to control the power generated by photovoltaic inverters according to the installation's consumption value (or another selectable value) to prevent surplus power from being injected into the grid or into generator sets. This allows you to obtain legal authorisation for self-consumption installations in places where it is necessary to ensure 0 injection into the grid.

The aim of the CDP range is to reduce the energy obtained from the grid, always prioritising the clean energy generated by photovoltaic panels.

The communication between the CDP and the inverter is via RS-485 bus, which allows up to 100 inverters to be connected, although in the vast majority of domestic installations, the number of inverters ranges from 1 to 3.

With this new integration, the CDP devices have improved compatibility by adding one of the most popular brands on the market to its system, thus ensuring the accurate and simple management of photovoltaic production control.

So CIRCUTOR is offering the market a fully autonomous system that enables the smart management of energy in the installation.

The assembly work of the Doña Carmen Solar Energy project was completed last May" in the city of La Ligua, to the far north of the 5th region of Valparaíso, Chile.

Currently, the vast majority of production processes in industry and services for people require a continuous supply of electrical energy.

RECmax CVM is designed for saving. The combination of a CVM power analyser and an automatic reclosing protection device make it a compact and affordable system. A single system that offers protection, electrical service continuity and grid analysis.

1. Saves time and space
Space is normally limited on electric panels due to excess equipment and wiring. Therefore, RECmax CVM with its small enclosure, can be suitable for any electric panel and free up space on the DIN rail.
RECmax CVM avoids excessive wiring thanks to its Plug&Play system, as it is not necessary to wire the power supply for the reclosing motor or the analyser module, as it has a system that is self-powered directly from the power line.

RECmax CVM
has ultra-immunised circuit breaker and earth leakage protection. Many earth leakage relays on the market do not have ultra-immunised protection. What sets the RECmax CVM apart from normal earth leakage relays is that it has a high frequency filter that enables it to determine whether there is really a leakage problem in the installation. In other words, it determines whether there is a real leakage and the effects of the harmonics on the grid.
This means that unnecessary tripping due to harmonics is avoided, thus ensuring service continuity.
The main advantages of ultra-immunised protection over conventional protection are:
  • Greater accuracy in trip sensitivity, between 85%-100%. Conventional earth leakage relays can trip at 50% of their sensitivity, unwanted tripping caused by leakages that do not generate any hazards.
  • Frequency response with filtering of leakages at high frequencies; it distinguishes between real leakages and harmonic distortion
  • Higher immunity against network transients of up to 3 kA for 8/20 µs impulses, thus avoiding false tripping caused by network transients.
3. Reduces production and/or service losses
Unwanted tripping of protection elements is normally resolved with simple manual reclosing. The problem arises when we require continuity in our process but we do not have the means to perform such reclosing. In many factories and buildings there is no 24-hour maintenance service. When faced with this problem, the best solution to ensure electrical continuity is to have an element with a smart automatic reclosing system.

RECmax CVM has a motorised system that reconnects the protection element in the event of unwanted tripping. RECmax CVM is a smart system, reclosing after 3, 20 and 180 seconds respectively; if it detects that the problem is persisting, the unit is permanently disconnected to keep the installation safe.

4. Saves energy
Knowing about our use of energy resources is the first step towards energy efficiency. If we do not know about our consumption patterns, there is no way we can act in the key areas where savings can be made in our installation.

The change in the types of loads in facilities is making it necessary to further develop the traditional concept of power factor correction.

If you were to think about the first step to take to improve energy efficiency in your facility, one of the first, most common actions would be power factor correction. Mainly due to the new requirements and technologies that have emerged over the years, the continuous development of compensation techniques is now a reality.

The most common system, used since the beginning, was power factor correction through contactor switching, which is still a suitable method in facilities where the load curve is the same in all phases (balanced system) and variations in consumption are not very quick (variations greater than 20 seconds). However, over the years, as the technology has developed, wi th dynamic loads becoming increasingly prevalent, systems have become more unbalanced, with far quicker variations in consumption.

As a result, a new technique emerged: the use of static contactors (solid-state relays or thyristors) to operate the capacitors in a capacitor bank. This concept of compensation offers us a number of significant advantages over compensation through contactor switching, including:

Advantages of the new range:
  • Faster response speed: using static contactors (thyristors) is the best solution for power factor correction in facilities where load variations are highly fluctuating and fast (in the order of ms). Application examples include: welding units, lifts, freight elevators, compressors, cranes, etc.
  • No mechanical wear: as an electromechanical component, the contactor has a limited mechanical working life, meaning that regular maintenance has to be performed to ensure the proper operation of the unit. However, using thyristors makes this unnecessary, increasing the useful life of the capacitor bank and optimising maintenance costs.
  • Noise reduction: using contactors requires mechanical components to be activated, which increase the noise and may become an annoyance in facilities used for services, etc. However, with thyristors, these noises disappear.
  • Elimination of transients during connection: by using zero switching control boards, we ensure that there are no transients when the capacitor bank is connected, thus extending its useful life and eliminating any disturbances in the electrical network.

Users management

MYeBOX® Cloud platform adds a new feature to the complete management of users and enterprises. Any connected device has full traceability to manage the connection of one or more users with different levels of privileges by assigning them to one or more company accounts.

The new profiles are defined as follow:

  • Standard user
  • Enterprise root (Bussiness administrator user)

Standard user

The user with a standard profile has access to the platform, to all their MYeBOX® devices and to all the files that have been previously shared. This account is ideal for users who have one or more devices, which can be managed individually without having to share them with any other user.

However, a standard user will always be able to share files with other people, even if they are not cloud users, by sending them a direct link to download files.

Enterprise root

The user with an enterprise root profile can manage all MYeBOX® devices already registered in the cloud and manage users within their company. These new enterprise users may have one or more devices associated in their account. This profile is recommended when it is needed to share one or more MYeBOX® network analyzers with other users.

Stored data

The old cloud server remains accessible at https://old.myebox.es for a period of 2 months. There, you can access the files sent until the migration date. Files that are shared from this point onwards will be sent to the new MYeBOX® cloud server.

Changes in user management

Unaffected users

Users who do not have an associated MYeBOX® or those who have only one, have been created as a standard user on the new platform.

This kind of user can log in with the same credentials, get access to all MYeBOX® registered and to the uploaded data. All MYeBOX® upgraded from 1.1.0 version will show all the new features previously described on the article.

If you want an enterprise root profile because you need to share MYeBOX® with other users, send us an email request at myebox@circutor.com with the following information:

  • Company name
  • Account administrator name
  • Email address and telephone number

Once the changes have been made, we will contact you by email.

Unrelated users

Users who have MYeBOX® analyzers shared with third parties that are not from the same company, have been created as a standard user on the new cloud server. For reasons of confidentiality and security, they have not been linked to the associated devices or files.

If you own the analyzers, you can add them back to your accounts using your device's register code. If you want a company administrator profile, follow the instructions defined in the previous point.

Enterprise users

Users who have MYeBOX® analyzers shared with other people from the same company have been created as entrerprise root profile. It is the responsibility of these users to assign roles within their organization.

MYeBOX® is an innovative portable network and power quality analyser, which has been specially designed to perform energy audits. The unit features a Wi-Fi and 3G communication system (depending on the model) and can be configured and monitored remotely with a Smartphone or Tablet, without the need to be present at the facility.
