This Directive is binding in all member countries, and the administrative <strong>penalties<\/strong> for not performing energy audits on time can range from <strong>\u20ac300<\/strong> to <strong>\u20ac100,000<\/strong>, in addition to other civil or criminal liabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the <strong>companies obliged<\/strong> to comply with the directive are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Companies with more than 250 employees and more than \u20ac50 million in annual turnover.<\/li>\n<li>And companies with a general annual balance sheet total of \u20ac43 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, the Directive indicates that member states should promote energy audits among <strong>SMEs<\/strong>. It also lists <strong>funding and grant mechanisms<\/strong> for audits, training and energy efficiency improvements.
